Goodbye Standard Chartered

After five fantastic years...

Standard Chartered has decided to cease our sponsorship of The Greatest Race on Earth. Five years has seen the series go from strength to strength, bringing a unique element of teamwork to marathon running, engaging elite runners and Standard Chartered staff members in the only marathon relay series of its type in the world. The Greatest Race on Earth has been a fantastic success, and we are proud of the way in which it has transformed the sport of marathon running. However, we feel that the time is right to review our objectives and the options. We remain committed to our marathon sponsorships in key markets, and will continue to look for opportunities to engage the communities in the markets in which we operate.

Many thanks to all our dedicated runners and followers for all the support over the years.

Incidentally English football club Liverpool will sign a new shirt sponsorship deal worth Stg80m (RM400m) with London-based bank Standard Charter. (You'll never walk alone....)

That's probably the reason why no juice for marathons. The advertising exposure is returned million-fold with an English soccer sponsorship.

Have to realistic, the returns from sponsoring football is so much better than that from running adv.
Liverpool is playing in EPL very weekend n also in Europe with mostly live TV coverages with millions viewers across the globe also watching the green-n-blue logo of SC, effective means of publicity...
